How is our population changing?

The Northwest Michigan population is aging. The average age of 38.7 from the 2000 Census increased by 8% to 41.8 in 2010. Millennials, an important driver of economic growth, have declined by 12% during the same period. The 2015 US Census population estimate for Northwest Michigan increased to 303,254, representing an increase to 3.06% of Michigan's total population.
